Anniversary

Today is my and Kevin's 17th wedding anniversary. I cannot believe how quickly the years pass. In 17 years we've bought 2 homes. Had a dog that REALLY did find a home on a farm. Had jobs in 3 school districts and one restaurant and a church. Traveled to the Rocky Mountains, Chicago, Missouri, Atlanta, Tennessee, Florida ,and China.

We've acquired 5 absolutely brilliant, beautiful, vivacious, precious, adorable, amazing children. No, I am not biased! They fill our days with frustration, laughter and hugs and kisses. Love on 2 legs x 5! How blessed are we?

We have an abundance of family who loves us and friends like I've never known to be possible.

We have wonderful church families at Sharonville and Grace.

All because we serve a mighty God! The blessings are because our God is truly and awesome God. I am so grateful to Him everyday that both Kevin and I, in the course of our marriage, came to know him and accept Jesus as our savior and redeemer. Without Him, we would not have lasted 17 years.

I thank God everyday for my wonderful husband and the life we have together. It is not perfect, but it is pretty darn amazing. I thank Him for Kevin and ask that I can be the helper he needs to fulfill his calling.

I love you, Kevin, more and more everyday. And I thank God that He brought you into my life. Happy Anniversary. I love you.

It's VBS at Sharonville UMC, our partner church. The kids are having a great time! It is so wonderful to hear even the three year olds singing "Saddle Up Your Horses" and dancing around the house. That is usually followed by "God is real!" and WAH-HOO!! "God is big!" WAH-HOO!!!

My days are spent telling the kids how much longer until it is time to leave for Bible School.

15People were also bringing babies to Jesus to have him touch them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. 16But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." (Luke 18:15-17)

God is good............WAH-HOO!!!!!

Sprained Ankles and Potty Training

What do the two have in common? Pretty much nothing except they are both occuring at the Jobe Abode right now!

On Monday, Gracie (wearing the too big flip flops I told her not to wear on her bike) and flying down the neighbor's drive way turning way too sharply (as she had been warned not to) crashed on her bike. She sprained her ankle pretty badly. (No, the words "I told you so" have not actually come out of my mouth, although a good lecture on doing what Mom says has!) She has spent the last three days with her ankle propped up, icing under a bag of frozen peas. She is learning to latch hook to pass the time. She's actually been a good sport about the whole thing.

Potty training is Charis, sort of. She is determined not to. But we are working on it. She doesn't go in the toilet too often, but she stays dry for longer and longer periods of time. She doesn't like being wet, so that is in our favor. We put a pull up over the undies, so she feels wet, but my carpet and couch don't! I highly recommend that technique. The good thing is that Ella is intrigued by the whole thing and is spending her fair share of time sitting. We've had at least one in diapers for 8 years. It would be so nice to not have any!!

Taking Over My Soul
Dark, thick clouds surround me.
In the sky
and in my mind.
Pressing down, threatening
Filling my eyes
and filling my spirit
And yet, if I peer our.
Peer out through the clouds
Peer out into eternity
I can see it shining clearly.
A light out of the darkness.
steady, warm
bright, strong
A candle burning
a shaft of hope
cutting through despair
A beam of love
The Son's scarred hand reaching to me.
Clearing the sky
and clearing my mind.
Lifting and encouraging
Filling the sky
and filling my eyes
Peace sets in, comforting me,
Taking over the air
and taking over my soul.
