Physically Longing

Psalm 63
A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah.

1 O God, you are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.

2 I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.

3 Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.

4 I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.

5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

6 On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the watches of the night.

7 Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.

8 My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.

9 They who seek my life will be destroyed;
they will go down to the depths of the earth.
1

0 They will be given over to the sword
and become food for jackals.

11 But the king will rejoice in God;
all who swear by God's name will praise him,
while the mouths of liars will be silenced.

How often do you long for God....I mean physically long for his presence? How often do you actually ache for God to reach down and touch you?

I was reading this Psalm this morning, and I was taken away by a physical ache in my center for God to reach down to me. And I reached up to Him. And Daddy took me in His lap and held me for a while as I meditated on His word and His works. (Did you know that I am his favorite?)

Can you think of many things that are better than life? There aren't many. But God is. So glorify Him with your lips. Honor Him with your deeds. Remember that all of the people around your are His creation (and His favorite! that makes you stop and think, doesn't it!"

I pray today, that you will long for Him, long for His touch, long for His presence. That you will thirst for Him and raise your hands in worship and praise.

"I have found Your love feeds my soul.....
I have found Your love feeds my soul.....
It's better than life, so I'll glorify You....
Spirit within me cry out Your name....
I have found Your love feeds my soul.....

Elmopalooza!

I made this for a friend's daughter this week. It turned out so cute that I had to share! I am working on bows for a craft show, so we have bows everywhere! My husband is thrilled! I am doing some really cute Halloween headbands and Christmas bows right now.
Hive update. Olivia's hives have returned. Poor baby. She is going for allergy testing on Monday. The down side of that is that she cannot take any antihistamine for seven days prior to the appointment. Poor itchy baby.

Time

Where does it go? I am always busy and yet never seem to catch up. There's laundry, dishes, shoes to tie, noses to wipe, bottoms to wipe, dishes to clean, the dishwasher to empty, homework to check, floors to sweep, bathrooms to scrub, keys to find, projects to do, clothes to swap out for the season, furniture to dust, beds to make, phone calls to make, appointments to keep....sigh....sometimes I get so caught up in all of this stuff that I forget what really counts...truly in the scheme of life counts.

Remember to spend time with my Lord and Savior. Whether in the Word, in prayer, in song. EVERY day. My days are so much better when they are lived this way, and yet I "forget" or "run out of time." Luckily, HE doesn't forget me. And I get those gentle proddings. That little voice in my soul that reminds me.

Taking time to enjoy my kids. Not to just coexist while they are playing in the next room, but to play with them. To sing and dance and read and color. Sometimes it seems like they've been this age forever. But I thought that with Grace who is now 8. Right now she is outside playing and has only given me a total of 10 minutes since getting home from school.

Time to spend with my husband. We're both guilty here, know that the other will always be there waiting when we are ready. But someday we won't be. Someday one of us is going to go home before the other. I don't want one of us to wish we'd been around more.

Time with friends, just to make a phone call to say hello. How many times have I thought of a friend through the day. How hard is it to pick up the phone and say "I love you." Doesn't take much time. And so often God brings someone to mind because s/he needs a little prayer or a hello. Why do we ignore those thoughts? OR think that person will always be around. They won't be and neither will I.

Why don' t I stop and remember the things that are truly important???? Why don't you????

Poor Miss Livi

Poor Miss Livi woke up this morning with what looked like hives. I gave her some Benadryl. Well, her rash has just spread and spread. Almost as if the Benadryl sped up the process. She is covered in hives from head to toe. I am waiting on 9:00 so I can call the dr. office. Looking at her is making me itch!!

Several Hours Later...

Well, Miss Livi is looking so much better! She had an allergic reaction to something. We don't know what. Of course. She is on steriods and Benadryl. Poor baby. And she is grumpy!! Poor me!!

But she goes back to school tomorrow. Hopefully not too doped up!

Guess Who is Using the Potty??

Okay, hold onto your hats, it's been a loooooong time coming! Miss Ris! Finally! She has fought and fought being potty trained for 8 months. She was 3 in April (thanks, Mom). After a discussion with a friend on the phone the other night (waving to Dana) I decided it was time for Ris to understand who was in charge. Honestly, she sat on the potty and argued with me that SHE was in charge. I stayed calm and explained that I AM in charge and that SHE was going to go ON THE POTTY! I may never say this again in my lifetime about an argument with Ris, but I WON! She decided it was pretty cool wearing big girl underwear. And only had a couple of accidents yesterday. And again today. But not too bad! In fact, she was upset last night because we took off the undies to put on a pull up for night time.
Yeah for Charis!!
