I so wish I had a scanner. I'd put in our wedding picture. Today is our 18th wedding anniversary. Wow! 18 years!!

Kevin surprised me this weekend with a weekend away. Lots of walking and talking. Lots of yummy food. A great church service at the church we visited. And a night at the hotel where we spent our wedding night.

I've got the greatest husband!! Since I don't have a scanner to show you a wedding picture, I'll post a picture of my amazing man.

Is there ever really enough sleep? The past couple of weeks I am just in a total haze. I am sure it has nothing to do with cutting caffeine, more specifically diet Pepsi out of my diet. I can take a nap any time, any where. Except, don't think you'll find me sleeping in a bed or at night!! Then I am awake. And because I don't let myself nap everyday (or should I say 5 little monkeys don't let me nap.) I can't really say it is because of napping that I am awake. Zzzzzzzz..........

I have 5 incredibly right brained children. As Kevin and I are also VERY right brained, it can make things really interesting around here.

Every summer I stock the kids up on the typical "summer things", you know, sidewalk chalk, bubble, jump ropes, sand in the sandbox, all of that kind of thing. But, my darling right brained monkeys make everything so much more work (for me!) than it has to be.

Sidewalk chalk. Can we just draw with it? NO! It must be ground up into a fine paste and then wet down. Once it is wet, one must walk in it and stick one's hands into it. Then said hands and feet must be used to leave footprints and hand prints anywhere they can reach. On the wall of the house, the brick wall, the patio, the driveway, all over the play set. And let me just say this concoction does not simply wash off of hands and feet. No, regardless of what is happening, it is bath time! This stuff stains skin and clothing!

Bubbles, how hard can that be? Well, after you blow enough bubbles to fool Mom into thinking you are going to use them correctly THIS time, you take a pretend bath in them! Rubbing it all over your arms and legs. Which is particularly wonderful on top of one monkey's eczema! It's even better if there is still sand in the sandbox! Then, you dump the rest all over the top of the picnic table in an attempt to wash off the sidewalk chalk residue. It doesn't work. THEN you can use the empty bubble containers to set up a bowling alley!!

Jump ropes are used to make webs on the play set. Or to tie stuffed animals to the play set. Or to use as leashes on said stuffed animal. We did have to take them away when they were using them to tie each other up AND to use as leashes on each other. Didn't think that was particularly safe.

So my backyard is just a hodge podge of toys that have been taken apart to play with in ways they were not designed. The soccer goal is used as musical instruments....the carnival like game that you throw velcro balls at is scattered after being used as who knows what. The kick ball has been used as a bowling ball.

Never a dull moment at the Jobe Abode.

Wondering if you are right or left brained? Check this out!

The Debate Continues

Me: See, Josiah, (pointing at the tv) Tweety thinks that girl bird is really pretty. So he's a boy because he likes girls!

Josiah: MOM!!! He's only pretending to be a boy!!

(I don't think I'll win this one....)

In Case You Were Wondering

Super glue DOES stick to teeth.....don't ask how I know, because I can't blame the kids on this one........

Keeping It In Perspective

Wednesday, I drove to Lima (2 hours north of Cincinnati) because my mom was have a heart catherization on Thursday. She's had a stress test come back showing limited blood flow to parts of her heart.

She was ushered into operating room hours before she was scheduled. That certainly cuts down greatly on the sit around and fret time! Less than an hour after she was gone into surgery we were meeting with the surgeon. Praise God!! Mom's heart is perfectly fine. She is having some spasms in the arteries; those are what are causing her pain. They are doing no damage. The only effect of them is the pain she's feeling. So they will control the spasms with medication.

She was doing so well, that I was sent home a day early. Not that I missed my babies or anything.

After a two hour drive, I turned on my street to see a car accident and my husband out in the street with his cell phone. I just assumed he was helping out. I opened the car door (because the window on his van, which I was driving) is not working. I asked if him if everything was okay. He said, "yea, we're both fine. " That is when it dawned on me that it was my van sitting wrecked on the street. At that point, all I could do was rejoice because no one was hurt. My mom's heart is fine and no one was hurt in the accident.

God is good, all the time!!
