Did I Ever Tell You About the Time....
If you know my husband at all, you know how the rest of that sentence goes....
"Did I ever tell you about the time Jamie Lee Curtis chased me through the LA airport to get my address?"
And I must admit, she did. I was there and I saw it. I laugh when he tries to leave the story at just that line.
It was 6 years ago, and we were on our way home from China with Miss Livi. We got into LA the night before and had decided not to take the red eye back home. So our flight the next morning left at some ridiculous time in the morning. And we were tired. Livi decided to stay on China time and was up most of the night.
We were standing in the line to board the plane. Off to the side the security people were doing the 'extra' search on a random passenger. As she was taking off her shoes, I turned to Kevin and said, "She looks like Jamie Lee Curtis." (I probably shouldn't mention that she was one of Kevin's objects of lust as a middle school/high school kid, so I won't mention it.) He says he said, "That IS Jamie Lee Curtis." I have no recollection of that at all.
As they were making this woman empty all of her pockets, she noticed Olivia. And started talking to her and us. "Oh, look at the baby! What a cute baby! At the same time, she was brushing off apologies from the security guards. They were just doing their jobs and shouldn't feel badly about it. And then she'd turn back and talk more to Olivia.
I turned to Kevin at one point and said, "You know, she even sounds like Jamie Lee Curtis."
Now, he swears said, "When you are someone, you usually sound like them." Sure, like I'd miss 2 comments like this?? Remember, we were exhausted!!
So we were walking down the hallway and this crazy lady runs up to Kevin going on and on about Olivia and how beautiful she was and how wonderful adoption is..... I was so tired by this point that I just walked on ahead of them and got on the plane and found my seat.
A few minutes later, Kevin came back to our (coach) seats and said, "Jamie Lee Curtis wants us to give her our address. She wants to send something to Olivia."
I am sure I looked completely shocked. I just remember saying, "That really was her!!"
A little while later, a flight attendant came back with a piece of paper to write our address on. She gushed on and on about Miss Curtis and how great she is to have on board. Now I really glad that only Kevin heard my ignorant remarks.
A few weeks later, a package arrived for Olivia with two of Jamie's books in it. Both autographed. They are adoption related as Jamie has adopted children, too.
Let's just say that I am now a fan, too. A bit ignorant maybe, but a fan nonetheless.
*****I forgot to mention that Olivia and Jamie Lee Curtis share the same birthday. So far, our dreams of JLC paying for Olivia's college hasn't come to fruition. Jamie, if you're reading this (yes, I am that delusional) thank you for the books! We didn't know how to get in touch with you!*******

Weekend Update (with apologies to SNL for using their term)
Rocks. Guilty. Three children instead of just one. I'd apologize to the one I publicly accused, except she was one of the three culprits! Reason given for WHY they put the rocks in the exhaust pipe: "I don't know," from 'the boy.' Giggles from the baby. A blank look from the first accused.
Did you know that 'Que sera' is Spanish? I thought it was French! I guess I am learning some Spanish.
Pounds lost so far: 19!!
Number of children at McDonald's for lunch yesterday: All 5
Number of children who THREW UP at McDonald's: 1 (thankfully he made it to the bathroom...even more thankful that Daddy is the one who got to take him!)
Number of children who learned that lipstick does not make good eye shadow.: 2 (they kind of look like raccoons, today. They decided to circle their eyes with lipstick. I don't know why. I also don't know why I didn't take a picture!!
Things learned this weekend: a piano has 36 black keys. My hubby can name all 5 of the New Kids on the Block (I am so proud.) Harry Morgan is not dead. There are entire villages in Cambodia built on water. There is actually candy, that you can purchase, that comes in a plastic, strap on nose and drips out like snot (thanks, Mom.) I promise to get a picture of that in use!
Definitely an interesting weekend! What did you do??

Keeping It In Perspective
Wednesday, I drove to Lima (2 hours north of Cincinnati) because my mom was have a heart catherization on Thursday. She's had a stress test come back showing limited blood flow to parts of her heart.
She was ushered into operating room hours before she was scheduled. That certainly cuts down greatly on the sit around and fret time! Less than an hour after she was gone into surgery we were meeting with the surgeon. Praise God!! Mom's heart is perfectly fine. She is having some spasms in the arteries; those are what are causing her pain. They are doing no damage. The only effect of them is the pain she's feeling. So they will control the spasms with medication.
She was doing so well, that I was sent home a day early. Not that I missed my babies or anything.
After a two hour drive, I turned on my street to see a car accident and my husband out in the street with his cell phone. I just assumed he was helping out. I opened the car door (because the window on his van, which I was driving) is not working. I asked if him if everything was okay. He said, "yea, we're both fine. " That is when it dawned on me that it was my van sitting wrecked on the street. At that point, all I could do was rejoice because no one was hurt. My mom's heart is fine and no one was hurt in the accident.
God is good, all the time!!

Another Rainy Day & Other Meanderings
I am really tired of the rain!!!!!!!!!! You can sure bet I am not dancing! Rain means my kids are literally running laps and around furniture. Or fighting over who sits on my lap. Or yelling each other. With 5 of them, that is a whole lot of yelling!! And my sweet babies girls, Elliana and Charis are practicing for 10 years from now, when they are 13 and 14. They talk as nasty to each other as any eighth grade girl I ever had in my classroom. You can bet that I can hardly wait until there are a few hormones added into this mix!
And Josiah? He turns into Whiny Man in this kind of weather. I still don't understand why that happens. Then he attaches himself to my right arm, usually while I am writing or trying to use the mouse or any other of the myriad of things I do with right hand, since I am RIGHT HANDED.
And did I mention that trying to help a nine year old with multiplication homework when she hasn't bothered to learn the facts is not fun. For either of us? She gets frustrated and so do I. Let's just say I have the flash cards ready for drilling this summer. She'll be thrilled, I am sure. But, that is why I exist, to bring joy and sunshine to my adorable children......sigh...they are so delusional!
This has been a long long week. Kevin has been gone until later than usual Monday , Wednesday and today. I was gone a good part of Tuesday night. For a couple of homebodies, we just haven't been here much. But tomorrow, he is taking off of work! And next week he is taking the whole week off of church! Yeah! We are going up to visit Nanny and PawPaw next weekend.
Ooo, and tomorrow we start getting ready for Operation Girls' Room! We bought 2 sets of bunk beds. They needed painted and put together. I've been buying sheets off of ebay. We're going to get rid of lots of stuff....but don't tell the girls that!!
Well, my monkeys think they need some attention, imagine that!!
