This afternoon, shortly before dinner, Charis and Josiah were wrestling, as usual. They do this regularly. Start on the couch, fall off the couch, someone yells because they fall off of the couch. The yeller then jumps onto the pusher and the whole thing starts again on the floor. At some point, the event might move back onto the couch. It's pretty interesting to watch because Charis is a tiny thing. She finally broke the 30 pound mark a couple of weeks ago. She's dark haired, dark eyed, dark completed, lean and strong. Her favorite wrestling partner is Josiah. He is thirteen weeks older than she is. He is at least ten pounds heavier, blond, blue eyed, fair skinned. A stout little man. It's really quite a picture. I guess I should take one sometime.
Right after they finished wrestling, I don't really remember who won or who was angry. But Charis started to gag as if she was going to be sick. Kevin rushed her to the bathroom. It only took me a couple of seconds to realize that she had....wait for it.....swallowed a LEGO!!!!! It was stuck in her throat, but she could still breathe.
I called the pediatrician who said we needed to take her into Urgent Care. But, as we were talking, Charis told Kevin that the Lego was in her tummy. It had shifted through her esophagus and into her stomach. That's the good news. My baby was no longer in pain. (Although she still wanted to go to Urgent Care because she had so much fun there two weeks ago when she had a double ear infection.)
The bad news? Now we have to watch her for the next few days for sign of an obstruction....
Oh, Charis......
And I wonder why my head hurts all of the time.

oh Tonni.... a Lego??!!! Poor Charis....thank goodness she didn't actually stop breathing...any idea how big the lego was???
ahh... the joys of Motherhood... remember what else you will be watching the next few days... (hehehehe)
Barbara :-)
That's a new one for me. David stuck a button up his nose when he was 3 - doesn't help much does it. Good luck!
Yikes! The things kids do!!! Glad she's all right!
Oh, Charis. A lego? Sounds like my husband might need to have a little talk with her. Remember the lighter fluid/ charcoal/ cold medicine/ other stuff I can't even remember? Although he never swallowed anything quite that large. Poor thing. Poor you.
lego my eggo! better thought, let go my lego! :)
Yikes! Swallowing a LEGO?? I'm glad it stopped hurting ... hopefully everything moves on through alright. :-O
The lego was pretty small, a two peg one. Luckily it wasn't a duplo. As long as it doesn't get in a weird position on the way through, she should be okay.
Goodness gracious Charis! Prayers that is comes out the same way it went in instead of spinning around or something.
Poor Charis and poor mommy... My kids just choose to stick things up their noses and so far have never swallowed anything. Oh, and Levi stuck a boogger from his nose into his ear, causing an ear infection. The joys of motherhood:)
Oh my goodness!! She keeps you on your toes to be sure!! I pray it comes out the way its supposed to! Those 2 peggers are small but so are her insides so hopefully there won't be any problems!!
If it makes you feel any better when Kait was 3 she stuck a bean from the don't spill the beans game up her nose and the ER docs almost couldn't get it out she shoved it so far up, then the next year she choked on a quarter, luckily it came up not down.
OMG how scary!
Let's hope it comes out with no problems!
